Retreat in a week

A week today and I will be sewing like crazy seems like I've been waiting for ages. Got my projects that I'm bringing, need some fabric for the borders for my Quilty Fun top by Lori Holt http://beeinmybonnetco.blogspot.ca/ I ordered from Hamel http://www.hamelsfabrics.com/, hope it will be here in time so I can cut the pieces. Think there are 4 projects to work on should be enough to keep me busy.
Next month we get our granddaughter for a week as her mom has to work night shift and nobody to watch her, we are looking forward to have her, Maddi  will be 18 months in May. Hope the snow is gone by then, right now it's not going fast enough.
Got to start gathering my supplies and bring them upstairs
Randy is finally going to have surgery, he has been off work since Oct. of last yr, he has gallstones 3 hernias to repair, we go to Salmon Arm next Wed. for the pre op then he should know his surgery date. and I go to the retreat the next day Happy Dance

Starting new projects

I started some new projects to take to the retreat next month, one is a real easy straight stitching rectangles, it calls for white background, but I had some light pink so I'm going with it as I had enough yardage, it is a jellyroll friendly quilt.
There has been a Quilt Along floating around in blogland very scrappy top

I really need to add some light fabric to my stash, had to search hard for this one, guess when I get out of town will get some fq's
This is what I got so far, liking it , top calls for 20-15" finished blocks think I'm going with 16.
Just finished a heart doll quilt
Started a St.Patrick table topper, it is now sandwiched ready to be quilted http://kimsbigquiltingadventure.blogspot.ca/2009/02/st-patricks-day-project.html#links is where I found the pattern
is slowly coming together will take this one and finish putting it together and decide on the border
Canned Pear is all cut out and ready for the retreat so I think I will have enough to keep me busy.

1st finish in 2014

The Dresden plate top is now finished I used the rest of the jellyroll in the border to use it up then tried free motion quilting on my sewing machine and not fond of it on large pieces my stitching was small and the tension on the back was not right as I couldn't move the quilt sandwich around very good  think I'll keep to the small projects to quilt on the sewing machine.

I ordered some fabric for a new project with pear blocks, I really enjoyed making the strawberries so will make the pears and I found a cherry block too, so 2 new projects on the to do list

Autumn's quilt is now a top

The last block of http://lindasquiltmania.blogspot.ca/ was released today and I have it done and the top assembled I think she is really going to like this one. Must say there were a few challenging blocks but I muddled through them. Now to make a backing
My son (navy) was deployed on a 8 month tour and his daughter who just turned 1 in Nov. is going to miss her daddy he made up some video for her so she can see him this photo just chocks me up so cute.

A New Year 2014

Another new yr. Shawn (Navy son) left on a 8 month deployment he has been transferred to the HMC Regina, was on the HMC Vancouver on his last deployment. He came home before Christmas with Maddy(gd) for a week.

Christmas was really quiet nobody was coming home so it was just Randy and I, then his mom was not doing well and they called all the family she lives in Sask. and the temp was -42 glad I stayed home watched movies on  Netflix girly ones that Randy wouldn't be interested in. New Years eve well I was in bed before it arrived.
On the quilting front I am caught up with Linda's BOW 1 more to go and it will be released on Sun.

I think Autumn will like it she will get it for her bd in May.
Was playing around with a jellyroll and decided to make Dresden plates got 8 made and another 4 to do.

My Christmas cactus was so full of blooms this year guess re potting it makes a big difference
